CANINE SUPERMODELS?

Are you ready for a new breed of supermodels? No, they don’t have long legs or silky smooth skin. They don’t have the most captivating eyes and svelte figures. They’re furry, cuddly, and, with wagging tails and tongues, they can come out of the runway with an attitude: they’re your dogs.

As more and more companies and designers are shifting their target market from humans to furry animals, it won’t be long before we see canine supermodels. They will be the next Gisele Bundchen or Miranda Kerr or Kate Moss; and with a little effort, in addition to designer apparel and accessories, they will soon be more than ready to do the dog-walk.

How to Know If Your Dog Is the Next Top Model

Does your dog know what it takes to be the next top model? Probably not, and perhaps you don’t either. Nevertheless, you still have a lot more time to make sure that in the next canine fashion show, perhaps in New York or in Paris, you’ll both be all set to join in the fun and the glamorous life of the modeling world.

1. Does he have confidence? No, getting that stranger out of the house doesn’t constitute to self-esteem. Your dog must be able to overcome shyness and learn how to walk with pride, with short or long fur, no matter what their color is.

2. Does he have a pleasant attitude? Keep in mind that he will not only be meeting other mutts but other people as well. It’s very important that your dog remains polite and courteous at all times. Get rid of the diva mentality. The modeling world is already stressful enough that organizers and even fashion designers don’t have time to put up with dogs with bad attitudes. If you think your dog needs polishing in this department, try to take him to a puppy day care or even to the bow wow camp.

3. Is he in great shape? You can’t expect them to have the 36-24-36 body figure, but at least you wouldn’t see the bellies drooping because of too many Scooby snacks. Besides, when your dog is in terrible shape, he’s in danger of developing serious illnesses, like heart attack and obesity, which will only hinder him from becoming a good supermodel in the future. When he’s not fit, ensure that he receives a proper diet and he gets the exercise he needs.

4. Can he strike a pose? When he’s on stage, nothing else matters but the way he struts himself and the way he makes the turns and eye contact. The dog must have a strong impact not only to the audience but, most of all, to the fashion designers and photographers who themselves are looking for their own models.

Lastly, before he dares to take the first step on the runway, ensure that he’s well groomed. There are stylists that you can hire for these important events. Who knows? He may land his first modeling contract with Calvin Klein?

One of the best ways to make it to the canine modeling world is to pick the right set of dog clothes. Puppia has a comprehensive line of different kinds of dog clothing, which will make your dog stand out wherever your she is. Look out Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford!

NEW TRENDS FOR SMALL DOG CLOTHES

Watch out Northern America, I have seen the way forward for dog clothes and it's not that I am so certain that I liked it all that much. I had an opportunity to travel to London lately for a business journey to soak up new fashion trends in the dog clothing industry. This industry is now large enough to have its very own global dog clothes show, so that means the class is now deserving of taking notice and exploring the opportunities to help folk on this side of the pond show their love for their dog. There were 3 major trends in dog clothing that are forthcoming. I'd all 2 of them trends and one of them an outright wave.

The first trend is the trend towards clothing that is intended to be worn in layers. Dogs can now wear a light undergarment for spring and fall types of days that's covered by a heavier sweater or sweatshirt like material that's capable of being removed on short notice to allow the smaller dog to enjoy a bit more unpolluted air on walks around the local park. The designs for these layered clothes are available in numerous styles, from sporty to traditional, preppy to gothic. The clientele that these items are intended for are the older generation who has an empty nest and lavishes love onto their four legged pal or the complex lady who takes her dog everywhere by having it next to her in a dog carrier.

The second trend that was noted on the trip is the movement in full body garments. These garments are built to permit your dog to go with you in extreme weather conditions outside to play in the snow or to tag along on a ski trip. The garments fit closely onto each one of the four legs of the animal after being set upon their back to get into the clothing article. The zipper or buttons are then fastened on the bottom so as not to show any of the seams. It gives the appearance that the animal has on long johns like many of us in the Midwest wore when we were children on cold days. Again, the styles are fantastic and the colours and textures of materials knew no boundaries. I particularly liked some of the hand made sets that were available for sale at the show. While I was a small concerned about the ability of the suppliers to meet what could be a great demand, their quality and design styles looked more in line with that of the layered garments seen at the show.

The 3rd and last trend to mention is that of the growing popularity of the items. With added empty nesters showering their pets with love and love, the dog clothing industry is enjoying quite a pleasant boom. As new releases are introduced it'll likely lead to fragmentation of the market for now, this market and product category is an wonderful wonderful place for shops to begin to offer clients top quality prices at attractive margins.
